Be Like the Bird
​Featuring Voix de Femmes Chamber Choir

Birds have captured the imaginations of poets and writers for centuries: we envy their freedom, their beauty, their amazing songs, as well as their endurance. In his poem, Victor Hugo encourages us to ‘Be like the bird that, pausing in her flight awhile on boughs too slight feels them give way beneath her, and sings knowing she hath wings.’
Voix de Femmes invites you to enjoy these feathered friends and their companions through the playful works and contagious rhythms of (mostly) women composers such as Gwyneth Walker, Sarah Quartel, Cecilia McDowall, Emma Lou Diemer, and Eleanor Daley.
The talented Bill Wisnom will accompany the singers.
Soprano Carolyn Freel will join the choir and perform Meadowlark (from the Baker's Wife), as well as a couple of Beatles songs; the accompanist for those will be guitarist Leon Colbert. ​
