Bridging the Gap: From West Virginia to the White House
Sunday, January 24, 4:00 pmBridging the Gap, the violin and double bass duo of Peter Wilson and Aaron Clay, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2027. Wilson and Clay grew up in neighboring towns in West Virginia but only met after their careers overlapped as members of “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band, where Wilson served as String Section Commander and Clay served as Principal Bass. They formed their duo in 1997 and went on to make regular appearances at the White House in support of such high profile events as State Dinners, Governors Balls, and Kennedy Center Honors receptions. As a duo, they also provided after-dinner entertainment for countless General Officers of the U.S. Armed Forces as well as outreach programs in schools. Their concert will feature an exciting and diverse collection of music from classical to jazz, folk to film music, funk to popular song, and even Big Band. There is something for everyone in this program that chronicles the compelling journey of Wilson and Clay from Appalachia to the Executive Mansion while engaging the audience with their stories of “musical diplomacy.” Come celebrate three decades of Bridging the Gap bringing audiences together through music!
